There was a time, back when my husband and I were still dating, that he drove me home to New Orleans. It was one of those quiet, meaningful drives—the kind where conversations unfold naturally.
He started telling me about the residency match process—how it worked, what it involved, and what his hopes were. He was still in medical school then, full of ambition but also uncertainty. At one point, he looked over at me and asked, “What if I don’t match in New Orleans? Will you follow me?”
Without hesitation, I answered, “Yes, I’ll follow you wherever you go.” He smiled. That moment stayed with both of us.
Fast forward a few months, and we got engaged. Then, not long after, we were married.
And yes—I kept that promise.
I followed him across cities and seasons of change, standing beside him through the unpredictable journey of medicine and marriage. Looking back, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I once told him:
“Wherever you go, I’ll go. Wherever you stay, I’ll stay.”
—Ruth 1:16
“Love isn’t just about where you are—it’s about who you’re with. I followed him not because I had to, but because I chose to.”
